Arrived in Bali and was greeted by the heat of the scorching noon day sun. Thank God for Chor Ming who was waiting to transport us to the hotel.
Checked into Harrads Hotel and ordered fried rice for a late late lunch while waiting for our room to be ready.
Jumped into two vans and we were off to Ubud. However we were distracted and ended up at a pasar oleh-oleh instead. Bought some souvenirs and we continued with our trip to Ubud.
It was late evening by the time we arrived at Ubud. Once again we ended up at some sort of market and spent quite some time haggling with the merchants. Some of us ended up with extraneous purchases because the merchants were clinging to us and spinning us their sob stories of not making enough sales for the day etc etc. It was quite obvious that we have been conned.
We were supposed to have dinner beside the padi fields but night had fallen by the time we arrived at I Love Joni Restaurant for dinner.
I don't eat duck and yet I enjoyed the Bebek (Crispy Duck). It was so crispy and there wasn't any smell at all. The chicken curry was delicious. There was not any gravy left by the time we finished dinner. Our third dish was a simple fried fish. All the dishes were served with ulam.
After dinner we wanted to go for a massage but all the places we went to were closed so we went back to the hotel. We took a chance and asked the concierge whether he could arrange for masseuses to come to our rooms. He could and so we each had an hour of massage in the privacy of our rooms for only RM50! And after that we we just went to sleep. Simply wonderful!
